About the Doc
Who am I....depends on who you ask at what time of day. Anywhoo.....I was born in Gastonia, North Carolina, went to college at UNCC, Medical School at UNC School of Medicine and did my family medicine training at what started off as Charlotte Memorial Hospital and ended up as Carolinas Medical Center in 1992. I have lived in Concord since 1992, raised two daughters, tortured my wife (ask her) and practiced with a great group of doctors at Cabarrus Family Medicine-Concord. In 2015, I pissed a whole lot of my patients off (and some of the doctors) and left the practice for something less stressful. I currently work with Eventus WholeHealth providing nursing home care in the southern Piedmont of North Carolina.
For the last several years, I have enjoyed the ever increasing presence of craft beers, near and far. As the craft beer offerings have increased, I note that these beverages aren't as available as I think they should be. There is a lot of talented brewery staff and brewers that should be recognized for the beverages they produce.
I am going to turn 60 the year that Doc Hopps becomes a reality, with guidance from many friends and close co-workers. I have enjoyed many local craft beers at many of the local breweries. That motivated me to make it easier for my friends and community to sample and enjoy them as well, by opening Doc Hopps. I look forward to interacting with my friends and my community more regularly, not with a stethoscope but with the opportunity to chat and perhaps enjoy a beer.
